This week’s ‘In the Spotlight’ feature is Minuet, a beautiful 25 year old TB x Hanoverian.
Here’s Minuet’s story in her owner Amy Currie’s words…
‘I’ve had Minuet 21 years. I originally had her on loan with view to buy from an old friend. I ended up buying her!
In October 2019 Minuet went lame, very mild she just didn’t look correct. I called the vet and after some nerve blocks she was diagnosed with a thickened near fore suspensory ligament. Course of action was to box rest for 7 months. I talked to my vet about getting some magnetic boots to help aid healing and to help with filled legs. It was agreed that this was a good idea.
So after some research I bought a pair of Magnetix Stable Boots for Minuet to wear at night time. Over the next few months, we did in hand walking each day for 20 mins, we had regular checks with the vet also. In January 2020 we had the OK to start riding just in walk 30 mins twice a week, the other days were just in hand walking. In March 2020 just before lockdown we had another vet visit to see if we could start trot work.
But… unfortunately she was lame in her off hind. Arthritis in the hocks was diagnosed. I used the stable boots then on her hind legs as well as having her hocks medicated. She’s been 100% sound since!
No filled legs at all, less stiffness when she came out of the stable first thing in the morning. A happier horse all round!
With good management from the boots, a joint supplement and support from my vet we are still riding. The boots have really helped her in the cold damp days too.
She walks out off the stable in the mornings a lot happier and less stiff with the help of the Magnetix Stable Boots. Would 100% recommend these boots, the results I’ve had have been amazing.
They have helped my horse no end, she is back being ridden now happy horse=happy owner.’
